Over the past 25 years, Allergan has been a pioneer in medical device development and proactive educator of both physicians and patients. With our initial focus in breast aesthetics, Allergan established a reputation for leadership and innovation with a wide range of textured and shaped implants in both saline and silicone platforms. The company's unique BioDIMINENSIONAL® Planning System provides the guidance patients need to work with their surgeon to find the right implant for their breast characteristics and personal goals.
In recent decades, Allergan has expanded our aesthetics leadership to the facial side of the business with the Zyderm® and Zyplast collagen implant line for the correction of facial wrinkles and scars. The company has also taken a leadership position in the obesity intervention market with the innovative BioEnterics® LAP-BAND® System. This is a minimally invasive approach to treating severe obesity, providing patients with a new, healthy option to less-effective non-surgical treatments (such as dieting, exercise and drugs) and the more traumatic surgical procedures (such as stomach stapling or gastric bypass).
